Vitamin C and E constitute a duo of antioxidants that is important for cell function and protection: these vitamins are required to neutralize free radicals that attack structures in the cell (Vitamin C) or in the cell membranes (Vitamin E). Vitamin E is particularly effective at preventing excessive oxidation of the cholesterol that travels in the blood stream, which can promote the deposit of atherosclerotic plaques on the inner side of the vessels.
